Inara Verzemnieks is an Iowa Arts Fellow in the University of Iowa's Nonfiction Writing Program. A finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in feature writing, she spent 14 years working for newspapers in Portland, Oregon, Washington D.C., Albuquerque, New Mexico and Tacoma, Washington before coming to Iowa.
